A groundbreaking study published in the Indian Journal of Nephrology suggests that modified dialysis protocols can significantly improve outcomes for patients with end-stage renal disease. Dr. Lii Nyori, ARF Director of Research, discusses the implications for patients in Arunachal Pradesh.

The study found that:
- Frequent, shorter dialysis sessions (6 times weekly, 2 hours each) improved cardiovascular health
- Patients reported better energy levels and quality of life
- Phosphate control improved without dietary restrictions
- Blood pressure medication needs reduced

"For our patients who struggle with the fatigue and restrictions of conventional thrice-weekly dialysis, this is promising news," said Dr. Nyori. "However, more frequent dialysis requires more resources and infrastructure."

ARF is exploring partnerships with international dialysis centers to bring these protocols to Arunachal Pradesh. The foundation is also funding a local study to understand how these protocols work for patients in our specific genetic and dietary context.
