Arunachal Renal Foundation wrapped up its month-long kidney screening campaign on March 10, having tested over 5,000 individuals across 15 districts of the state. The campaign, launched on February 14, featured mobile screening units traveling to remote areas including Tawang, Bomdila, and Daporijo.
Of those screened, 342 individuals were identified with early-stage kidney disease and referred for further investigation. Another 89 patients with existing kidney disease were found to have uncontrolled blood pressure or sugar levels.
"Our goal was to reach the unreached - people in remote areas who never get tested because they cannot access healthcare facilities," said Dr. Joram Bida, Medical Director. "We were overwhelmed by the response in every district we visited."
The foundation plans to conduct follow-up camps in all districts where abnormal findings were detected. Early intervention can prevent these early-stage patients from progressing to kidney failure.
